Colors

Come, let me share my knowledge with you on how to understand color. Let’s take the fear out of choosing your fabrics.

Details

Let’s throw on some old clothes and play with some paint. Yes, I said paint. Knowing which colors make up YOUR color is the fun part. Understanding value and how colors play together is KEY. Bring some scraps (if you have them) for some brain exercises and come ready to have fun while I share with you what I know, along with some techniques that will help take out the guess work!

Basic Serging

Doris will show you how to adjust tension, secure stitches, sew ribbing, attach elastic and gather with your serger. You must know how to thread your serger prior to class.

Bring a jacket, shirt, apron, or tote along with any vintage linen from your stash, and let’s have some creative embellishment fun!

***I will also bring linens for sale in case you need to add to your stash! ***

Explorer creative ways to up cycle vintage linens such as table clothes, dresser scarves, hankies, napkins, pillowcases, embroidery, quilts, lace, and crochet. These treasures are often forgotten and hidden away for decades in attics and boxes. They deserve a second chance at life to be cherished again as the original maker intended.

Bring a brown bag lunch, and let’s start a revolution to bring linens out of the dark and back into the light.

There will be discussion on corners and sizes. You will have a sample piece to practice making hills and valleys with a creative grid tool. Then you will cut bias binding and sew the binding to the sample piece you made.

Thread Painting

Denise is an accomplished thread painter, willing to share with you her technique for thread painting.

Do Not be intimidated or scared! This is a technique based class. Denise will show you how to take a practice piece of fabric or even a square from a panel, and turn it into a work of art!

Easy Dresden Flower

Using 5″ squares, let’s make a flower!

Details

Let’s Play with 5″ squares. Bring your 4.5″ half-square triangle units to class and we will construct 4-patch blocks. From that, you will learn how to flip and stitch flower applique units. Using a blanket stitch, you will attach the flower to a background square. This is your foundation. You will then have options for your center; a heart, a circle, a star or a square.

Hollow Cube 60 Degree

We will frame a 60 degree triangle to construct the units.

Value of dark, medium and light will give the cube a 3 dimensional look.

This class you will use a Hollow Cube Technique Sheet which gives you a chart for 16 sizes of cube options.
