Colors

Let”s throw on some old clothes and play with some paint. Yes, I said paint. Knowing which colors make up YOUR color is the fun part. Understanding value and how colors play together is KEY. Bring some scraps (if you have them) for some brain exercises and come ready to have fun while I share with you what I know, along with some techniques that will help take out the guess work!

Basic Serging

Doris will show you how to adjust tension, secure stitches, sew ribbing, attach elastic and gather with your serger. You must know how to thread your serger prior to class.

Do you wish you were more comfortable with your serger? Then this class is for you! You must know how to thread your serger prior to class. If you need help with that as well, Doris can accommodate you by making an appointment a few days before class.

Beginner Quilting

Learn to quilt from square one to a finished table runner. You will learn color selection, precise cutting, stitching techniques, quilt assembly, borders and binding. You’re sure to learn, even if you’re not a beginner!

There is a one-time knit fee of $10

As a class, this year it was decided we would work on a block of the month Christmas quilt. “Celebrate the Season Silhouette Quilt” was the quilt chosen and is an embroidery, applique and piecing project. Jeanette did hers in red, black and off white. It is on display at Fabric Carousel. This OESD design collection, #61070, is only available as a download. The direction and fabric requirements are included in the download. You will complete one block each month and have show and tell monthly. Free Motion

Have you wanted to Free Motion Quilt but didn’t know how to start? Are there easy patterns that look good?

This class can get you started by teaching you how to create a workable quilting space, adapt your machine for Free Motion, practice several easy designs and learn do’s and don’t’s to make you Free Motion quilting successful.

Binding Techniques
with Grettle Payne
Make a take-home sample with several techniques from traditional mitered binding to ruffles and in between, creating a final statement on every quilt.
Details
Take the stress out of binding a quilt. Review how to make great mitered corner bindings using the sewing machine and finishing by machine or by hand. In addition, learn to jazz up your bindings with rick-rack, ruffles, or piping. Experiment with adding a flange or prairie points. Dazzle your next quilt with two color/two sided bindings. Try different bias bindings including rounded corners.
